Traffic Calming

Reflecting the concerns and wishes of Parishioners, Edlesborough Parish Council continues to devote a great deal of time and money to try and improve road safety - especially on the A4146 (Hemel Hempstead - Leighton Buzzard), which runs through Dagnall, Edlesborough and Northall.  The main concern is speeding traffic and the strategy is to use enforcement and visual reminders of the speed limits.

DCP00693.JPG (60945 bytes) The long-awaited "gates" for Dagnall were finally installed in August 2003.

The even longer awaited, permanent "dynamic speed indicating device" was installed in Northall (one of the first in Buckinghamshire), in July 2003 and residents have noticed a definite improvement in drivers DCP00677.JPG (126267 bytes)  adhering to the speed limit.

For one week in June volunteers from Northall and Dagnall operated a mobile DCP00650.JPG (181318 bytes)

SID (speed indicating device). It proved very successful in curtailing

the speed of all vehicles but especially lorries and vans.  Parishioners

in Northall found that rush hours were like a Sunday as the noise levels

were so much lower than normal.
