Edlesborough Parish Council (including Edlesborough, Dagnall and Northall) News

Mobile Library Services

The Mobile library Service has unfortunately changed the day it visits Dagnall and Northall from Wednesday to Tuesday. This has unfortunately upset many parishioners in the two villages as Tuesday is a day on which they are able to get to Leighton Buzzard on the bus, a bus service not being available on any other week day. The Clerk has taken this matter up with the Mobile Library Service and been informed that the whole of their programme had been arranged many months ago and this could not be altered at the present time. Edlesborough Parish Council has strongly complained about the change of day it visits the Villages and it is hoped that this will be taken on board when the Service arranges its programme for the following year.

The Library Service informed the Parish Council that those mobile library customers who wished to travel on the bus on a Tuesday can borrow up to 15 items and books on mobile libraries will continue to be loaned for 4 weeks, books can be renewed by contacting any library in Buckinghamshire, this would enable customers to use the mobile service every 4 weeks instead of on each visit.

The Remembrance Service will this year be held in Eaton Bray and the Chairman will be laying a wreath on behalf of Edlesborough Parish Council.

Allotments

The collection of allotment rents has now taken place and the Parish Council are in the process of ascertaining the number of allotments that are available throughout the Parish in order that those on the waiting list can be accommodated. If any person wishes to take on an allotment would they please contact the Clerk so that the Parish Council can decide if any further allotments should be made available.

Edlesborough

Following a recent accident where a duck was killed crossing Moor End AVDC have now erected a Duck Crossing sign in Edlesborough and Bedfordshire County Council have been approached to erect a sign on their side of the boundary.

Dagnall

The Lease has now been signed for the new footpath between Dunstable Road and the Recreation Field and work should commence shortly. Also agreement has been reached for the placing of 2 benches, one on the Village Green, the other outside the Village Hall by the Bus Stop and these should soon be in situ.

Northall

At a recent meeting held in the Village it was ascertained that the School Buses to Aylesbury now make more stops in the Village on both sides of the road hopefully making it less dangerous for children having to cross the very busy A4146.

School Buses

The Parish Council are concerned about the number of children travelling on the School buses from the three Villages, some having to stand for the length of the journey, and this is being taken up with the Transport Department of Buckinghamshire County Council.
