Collection review
A very interesting exercise – lots of places discovered we had not seen before. Some people were not happy to fill it in, but still an enormous response from those who were. Some inventive excuses were heard as to why questionnaires had not been completed. Persistence paid off, which all the collectors must be heartily thanked for. As a general rule, the larger/more inaccessible the property, the lower the return rate was.
Finance Review.
£1630 in the account currently, which includes a donation of £100 from the St Mary’s carnival. KB to write thank you letters to the carnival committee and to the Printers (who honoured an incorrect quote to us). ACTION KB
Preparation for analysis.
Elizabeth’s contact SPSS person, Judy, has been introduced to Alan. Judy is preparing the set up of the data input spreadsheet for us. Printouts of results and percentages will be done with 100% representing the total no of questionnaire’s returned and also as a total no of valid answers on all questionnaire (ie, it may be that 100% is based on eg.350 rather than the full 732). (This will cost only slightly more to do both, and may give more clout to applications in the future). Analysis to be done as a total and by the four geographical areas indicated on the questionnaires.
Decision on data entry completion.
We will know soon how long it is likely to take to enter the data, based on time per questionnaire and the numbers returned. Consistency is important to keep it as accurate as possible. Judy will enter some data at £9.50 an hour if we want it. Extra help is likely to be available via Ashridge if we ask for it. It was agreed that it is worth spending money on data entry, and we will save money in other areas. Elizabeth will liaise with Judy at Ashridge to get the work done for us. Timescale to be confirmed shortly. ACTION EB,AW
Coding the verbatim comments prior to Data Entry.
Comments have to be coded in order for them to be analysed. Alan has started to do this by preparing the frame for codes. He will try to get them all to have 2 digit code numbers, with the first number to be generic eg ‘1x’ and ‘1y’ will both relate to traffic. Up to half the questionnaires will have comments written on the back.ACTION AW
Typing up of the verbatim comments for review.
Volunteers will be needed to type up comments after the data entry has taken
place. Volunteers please notify Alan. ACTION ALL
Email addresses on questionnaires.
Should we contact those who included their email? Agreed that we could use the winners email address, to contact them, but for no other reason. ACTION ALL
Meeting planning.
We need to plan meetings for the group – as we will have several deadlines to agree, eg reporting to parish council, feedback around the parish, compiling of action plan. Vicky will send out a grid requesting dates for December and January 2008. ACTION VL,AW
AOB-Selecting prizewinner
All the questionnaires will go into in a box and one will be pulled out for the winner of the £50 of M&S vouchers prize. No one from EDaN group or parish council may win! The draw will be made at Tony Densons office at the weekend. Alan Williams will do signs for the office door. The winner will be informed, but not announced formally until Focus in December.
